Mordred the Evil

Real Name: Mordred

Class: Human

Occupation: Would-Be Despot

Affiliations: Former ally of Morgan Le Fey, the Bane and the Parliament of Darkness

Scale of Operations: Europe

Powers: Mordred is a moderate-level sorcerer.

History:

Mordred is both son and nephew to Morgan Le Fey, one of the most evil women who has ever lived. Born of a treacherous tryst between Morgan and her half-brother, King Arthur, Mordred was responsible for the deaths of both his own father and Sir Percy of Scandia (the original Black Knight).

Mordred remained at Morgan's side through the ages, learning as much as he could from her. After a failed attempt by the two of them to trap the Avengers in a time-displaced reality, Mordred elected to strike off on his own. Allying himself with the Parliament of Darkness and Proctor, Mordred began a campaign to conquer Avalon. The scheme began with much success, with former Knights of Pendragon Dai Thomas, Breeze and Grace all either killed or scattered. The Lady of the Lake was greviously wounded as well and Mordred actually occupied a seat of power in Avalon before the new Pendragons arrived to dispose of him. The near-victory managed to transform Mordred into something of an icon in the supernatural community, however, and has earned him the continued patronage of the Bane.

Months later, Mordred was plucked from prison and deposited in an alternate timeline alongside Nekros and Slaymaster. The three villains battled the Pendragons and a multitude of other heroes at the behest of an alien being known as the Beyonder. This "Secret War" ended with the villains deposited back on their own world, with Mordred taking up residence at Glastonbury. When Adam Crown journeyed there seeking answers of his own, Mordred attacked him. The battle was brief but furious and in the end Mordred was once again defeated.

He next resurfaced as the Avatar of the Red Lord, leading the Bane's forces against the Pendragons in Darkmoor. He once again clashed with Adam Crown, with Adam sparing Mordred's life in exchange for a vow of servitude. Mordred served in this capacity for several months, offering advice to Crown and aiding Ghost Rider in freeing himself from Mephisto's clutches. But he began to chafe under Crown's watchful eyes and he eventually allied himself with Ravonna Lexus Renslayer in a bid for omniversal power. His plan brought about the deaths of several people, including his mother.

Following the failure of the so-called "Collision Event," Mordred fell into the custody of Gawain, a Pendragon who had been reborn in the cosmic wake of the Event. The tortures he's faced at the hands of Gawain have driven Mordred nearly to the breaking point.
