War of the Worlds: Legacy

What has come before: A hostile alien force has conquered The Earth. Earth’s heroes are fighting a losing battle as a resistance to the Martian oppressors. Hope comes in the shape of the heroes children, raised in secret in other dimensional Asgard. Great warriors with the sole purpose of freeing their Homeworld have trained these young heroes, in hopes that this secret army could do what they could not.

Previously: A tear in reality flung a team of the Legacy heroes into and another universe. There they meet a team of young heroes much like themselves, who were the children of their Earth’s greatest heroes. The tear in reality caused the universes to un-naturally meld together. However the combined teams managed to repair the damage with the help of the hero Access. Access sealed the tear from the inside but a resulting explosion threw some of the Legacy heroes in the timestream and stranded the hero Nightstar in the Legacy universe.

War of the Worlds: Legacy

"Wish You Were Here"

Dear Bruce,

I don’t really know I’m writing this as I have no way of sending it too you, but Doctor Foster thinks it will be good to get my thoughts down on paper. I miss you guys a lot. The people here have been really kind to me. I know this is going to sound bizarre but I’m living in Asgard, you know the home of the Norse Gods. I don’t know if it actually exists back home but it certainly does here. It’s a beautiful unspoilt place and it reminds me of the Tamaran countryside.

Mr. Rhodes has taken me in, although he said I could call him Jim, and his daughter Josephine, although everyone calls her Sprocket. Jim is the Mayor of a section of Asgard called "Little Midgard"; it is a refuge of sorts for the families of the heroes of Earth. Why a refuge? It’s because the Earth is at war. A hostile alien force has invaded the planet and it’s not going well for our side.

Which brings me to the "Little Midgard" project. Here the children of the heroes live and train as a secret army in the hopes of taking back their home. It’s a lot like when we and the other Justice League kids used to go to New Genesis for lessons with the Highfather, but on a much grander scale.

I miss you and the other Titans so much, but everybody here is really nice especially considering all the tradgedy they’ve faced. A number of them didn’t make it home. Sprocket is doing everything she can along with the other scientists to locate them and find me a way home, but it’s not looking good at the moment.

Mr. Grimm, the big rock guy you meet, and his wife Alicia are taking it the hardest, that poor family has been through so much. First Mr. Grimm’s best friend goes missing, and then his other team mates are killed in the initial invasion. Mr. Grimm himself was left an amnesiac, forced to fight in brutal gladiatorial games for the alien’s pleasure. Fortunately Alicia made it here with the Fantastic Four’s children, that’s Mr. Grimm’s team. It doesn’t end there his godsons Franklin and Richie went missing on the Legacy’s first mission and now his god daughter and his own daughter are part of team that didn’t make it back this time. It’s a hard life here most of the kids only see their parents once in a while and some don’t know if they’re alive or dead. The people who live here do their best and they’re fantastic but I know I already miss mom, dad, Aunt Barbara and Grandpa Bruce.

Sister Mary Samson has been helping me settle in, she belongs to a religious order of super heroes who help the war effort. She has been showing me around. It’s quite a beautiful place really, there is a Hall of Heroes with statues Alicia has sculpted of the fallen heroes, Avenger’s Park which houses samples of all of Earth’s flora, Lake Namor which is named after this world’s Atlantean monarch and finally my favourite the "Playpen". The "Playpen" is kind of a training facility with solid light holograms to fight and practice against, you would love it.

I have already had my first little adventure here. I was on a tour of the local countryside with my new friends Sarah and Jess or Sentinel and Starbird to give them their stage names. When we saw the local Blacksmith Elric been attacked by, if you can believe this trolls! Apparently Elric is a half troll and he is considered a traitor to his race. To cut a short story even shorter we blasted the trolls and sent them packing. Elric made me a sword as a thankyou, everyone has one here it’s like a fashion accessory. I’ve managed to get myself a job helping Doctor Foster in the medical unit to try and make myself useful.

Some of the missing heroes from the first mission were found a few weeks ago and I’ve been helping them get back on their feet. It’s freighting how powerful some of these guys could be and still get captured.

It’s a little weird here in some ways. It’s a bit like Cadamus. We have a guy here called Howard who’s another exile from his own dimension and I swear this is true he’s a duck.

I know you won’t want to hear this but I’ve already been asked out twice and both times by princes no less, not only princes but princes of the gods. Magni the son of Thor lord of Asgard has asked me to his father’s banquet and Titan the son of the Olympian god Herculese has asked me to Ghoul’s bar and grill for dinner. I don’t know id I’ll go to either but it’s nice to be asked.

I have decided to help the Legacy with their war. It is a just cause and one I’m sure you would approve of. I hope I can give this to you in person soon. Give everyone my love and look after mom and dad and Aunt Barbara for me. Please make sure someone feeds Ace.

All my love

Mar’i

Thought I ‘d do a brief catch up for everyone and introduce one of our new characters a bit better. Hopefully this very brief interlude will help any new readers get up to date.
