No Barrier Pt. 2

The situation was simple for Elsa.  Survive and complete her mission.  Though it was a lot easier said than done as she was up against some of the most ruthless beings the Multiverse had to offer. Right now she was trying to dodge the demonically charged blade of Nero Dane, this world’s twisted version of Dane Whitman.  He wore armor made of bones from head to toe and each bone piece was constantly dripping blood.  Lifting up his facemask Elsa saw a horrific face of razor teeth and dried gray skin.

“I shall feast upon your soul!” Nero Dane promised as he swung his sword above Elsa’s head nearly cutting the top of her skull clean off.  Bloodstone rammed her shoulder into the demon and sent him crumbling to the ground.  Swinging her spear around her she stabbed the monster in the stomach.  Dark pink energy surged through her weapon and lit Elsa’s soul afire.  Images of demonic creatures and torturous realms filled her mind as she fell backwards onto the ground and wound herself up in the fetal position.

Rising to his feet Nero Dane laughed as he playfully swung his sword, “The Warlords assured me you and your Dark Guard would be easy prey.  Now it is the Exiles I look forward to facing.”

“How about facing my fist!” Bluestreak yelled as she punched Nero Dane in the face a hundred times before he could even blink.  Then she kicked his knees out from under him and began to stomp his face a thousand times a second.  Suddenly she found that she was simply stomping dirt.

There was a tap on her shoulder and before Bluestreak could even turn around she had been knocked away by demonic fire.  Fortunately, her super speed allowed her to put out the supernatural fire that most others would not have been able to.  Before she had time to even get up Nero Dane was upon her and holding her up in the air by her techno-organic arm.  She couldn’t move to attack because Dane’s touch had poisoned her with fear.

“My child you shall make a coarse meal,” Nero Dane said as he licked his lips with a scaly green tongue.

It was then that her techno arm began to glow and bright blue energy exploded from it sending Nero Dane flying high into the sky.   His armor had been shattered to pieces revealing decaying skin and innards where no flesh was present.  The demon cried out in pain as he was surrounded in the energy.

Falling to the ground Bluestreak gripped her arm and groaned, “Just what the hell did you do to me Bastion?”

“Stay still so I can kill you already!” Black Knight complained as Deathstroke dodged another of his jabs.

“You’re child’s play.  I could have killed you ten minutes ago,” Deathstroke said as he grabbed the arm of Black Knight snapped it causing the Dark Guard member to scream and drop his Obsidian Blade.  Then with a powerful jab from his flattened hand he broke the windpipe of his opponent.  Black Knight fell to the ground gripping for air.  Slade began to stomp madly on the Knight’s head until he was gone.

“Perhaps you could have shown up earlier.  My teammates would still be alive,” Malice commented as she floated to the ground next to the former Marauder.

Deathstroke looked at Malice menacingly, “We wanted you and not your teammates.  Simple as that.  We came in when you seemed to be in danger.”

Malice laughed, “From who?  That pink haired girl and the guy who thinks he’s a Jedi?”

“Don’t underestimate them.  It was that pink haired girl who caused the devastation of my way of life,” Deathstroke replied.

“Guess she has a knack for ruining people’s fun.”

Daredevil was riding atop Northstar through the air and he had his hands over the flyer’s eyes.  Northstar launched a variety of insults at Daredevil, but Murdock was just enjoying the ride.  He knew that no earthly harm would befall him as long as he wore the Armor of Strange.

“So what was your world like kid?  A bunch of pansies I bet,” Daredevil laughed.

“You wouldn’t know the first thing about my world you lunatic!” Northstar screamed as he went into a wild tailspin.

Daredevil let out a jovial cry, “Now that’s what I’m talking about.  Give me some action baby!”

“For such a fearless man you seem to be entrapped in the need to find a reason to be afraid.  Let me give it to you.”

Daredevil shook his head, “Naw.  I think I’m through with you now.”

And just like that the Daredevil snapped the neck of Northstar and flipped off the out of control dead body.  Landing on his feet with grace Daredevil looked around and licked his lips in anticipation of the next fight.

The Agatha Harkness of his world had raised Kirigi in the dark arts.  She taught him everything about vampiric magic and then much about other artforms.  He had trained under her and his powers grew immensely.  Once she passed on to a higher realm Kirigi assumed the highest position of mystic power amongst his society.  None opposed him and he had come so close to resurrecting Erebrus, a vampire god, until Blink and her Exiles had interfered.  It had cost him everything and death would have awaited him on his world if not for Vange coming in to save him.

“You cloak yourself in white as if you were something pure.  I will gladly put down such a mockery,” Anakin said as his lightsaber hummed to life.

“You are brave warrior, but you are a fool to think that you could ever truly challenge me.  What would ever give you such an assumption?  Your arrogance precedes you!” Kirigi replied as he stepped closer to the Jedi warrior with dark energy coursing from his eyes.

“You know nothing of the Force, but I shall be the first to teach you!” Anakin yelled as he leaped into the air and landed behind Kirigi.  With one swift move he had removed the arm of the vampire wizard and sent him flying into the ground with a push from the Force.  Anakin was keeping the wizard pinned to the ground as he approached him with the intent of a deadly blow.

“I shall teach you of power!” Kirigi exclaimed as black lightning erupted from his body and struck the approaching Anakin Skywalker head on.

The Jedi’s body began to convulse wildly as he was lifted up into the air by the attack.  Such pain was flowing through his body that he was utterly incapable of releasing a scream.

“Foolish boy!” Reed von Doom grumbled loudly as he swiftly flew through the black energy and grabbed a hold of Anakin.  He lifted the both of them high into the air and far away from the black energy of Kirigi.

“Illyana tells me that you’re a telepath, Astrid.  Is that correct?” Blink asked.

“Yes, but why does it matter?” Astrid asked.

“Because I’m pretty damn positive that these guys psi-shielding sucks to high heaven.  I just need to know if you’re capable of putting a hurting to these guys.”

Astrid’s brow furrowed and she bit her index finger, “I’m not sure if I can do this, but I’ll give it a try.”

Blink nodded, “A try is far better than nothing at all.”

Astrid put both of her hands to her temple and went to work.  Blink had been right.  Overall, their psi-shielding sucked, but there were a couple that Bloom was having problems getting a lock on so she just kept pushing harder and harder.  Clarice watched Bloom anxiously as the various servants of Vange crumbled to the ground and grabbed at their heads madly.

Deathstroke glared at Blink and gave a warning, “The Warlords will strike again.”

With that final warning The Warlords disappeared with Malice and the injured Nero Dane.  An exhausted Astrid Bloom fell into the arms of Blink who set her down on the ground gently.

“What are we looking like here?” Blink asked Belladona.

“Two dead, two injured, and one very distraught.”

“Considering those guys track records I’d consider that lucky,” Blink sadly admitted.

Mindwarp and Redfire were the only two standing members of the Dark Guard and they were sorely outnumbered by the Exiles.  Blink looked them down viciously and asked, “Just what were you guys on this world for and you better start talking fast.”

Jamie laughed, “You’ll have to find out some other time honey.  Mindwarp is no snitch!”

With that Dark Guard/Division A/Team 12 vanished to wherever they had come from.  Illyana was saddened at barely even getting to spend time with her old teammate, but had hope that maybe things were okay on her world, but just how did Astrid end up working for this King Brian?  What drove her from their world?

Blink could see that Illyana was thinking and said, “A mystery best left for another day.”

“Yea you’re right,” Illyana replied though her mind’s wheels were still turning.

A Weapon X Back-Up

Drake sighed at the sight in front of him.  His team and himself were staring down at a large vat of what looked like red and black sludge.  In truth it was hundreds of clones of the symbiote known as Carnage all being contained in a large vat.  On this world the Russian government had gotten a hold of the symbiote and was planning to bond a copy of it to every one of their soldiers.  One of the team’s mission objectives was to destroy every last copy of the symbiote.

“Can you just freeze these suckers already so we can move on to the next world?” Diamondback asked annoyed at the childish awe of Drake.

“Alrighty lets do this,” Drake said as he cracked his knuckles and froze the vat solid killing any lifeform that might have resided inside or outside of it.

“We might have other problems,” Gorilla Grodd warned as he pointed at the Russian superhumans covered in their own symbiotes.

“I recognize Darkstar, but the others aren’t too familiar to me,” Diamondback said.

“Does it even matter?  Lets eliminate them and be done with,” Black Adam said as he swooped in at super speed and snapped off the heads of the four approaching soldiers.

“Well that wasn’t too hard now was it?” Drake asked with a smile as the Tallus began to glow.

“Better than fighting off a legion of Thunderbolts.  That’s for sure,” Diamondback said as she scratched behind the ear of Vermin.
