Powers: Big Ben has superhuman strength and durability, as well as the ability to fly. In addition, he is most handy with the umbrella and has an impeccable sense of timing.

History:  

He's the Superhuman Spy, the Man With No Time For Crime. Bedecked in a modified black three piece suit, bowler, umbrella and domino mask as only a dedicated follower of fashion could be, Big Ben believes himself to be a spy working for the enigmatic 'MI 5 ½' during the swinging 60's. This fact caused Inland Revenue clerk Patrick Steed no end of consternation and led Patrick to take illegally obtained anti-psychotics to supress Ben's memories. Unfortunately for Patrick, these drugs only did so much -- when events proved too much for Patrick to deal with, he had no choice but to turn over control to Ben.

Big Ben quickly became allies with his fellow 'miracles' such as Miracleman, Miraclewoman, Firedrake, Warpsmith and Laser Eraser. Like them, Ben was a product of Jamie Braddock's dementia. The brother to King Brian of Otherworld, Jamie Braddock briefly held the power to remake reality. He brought certain beloved comic book characters to life in the real world, fashioning entire backgrounds for them. In the case of Miracleman, the lie was so complete that the entire world 'remembered' the hero. In the cases of the other Miracles, however, the world at large knows them only as fanciful -- and fictional -- characters. The persona of Big Ben was lodged inside the mind of a pre-existing person (Patrick) but now that he is free, it is proving most difficult for Patrick to put the genie back in the bottle, so to speak.

During the Jaspers Warp, Big joined up with the Pendragons and was with them when the final victory over Jim Jaspers was gained. Since then, however, he has returned to adventuring with the other Miracles.
